Our products
What is Gloei?
We’re Gloei, a minimalist, multi-use makeup brand. We design and manufacture in Cape Town, South Africa. Our vegan cosmetics are thoughtfully formulated (by the best cosmetic chemists) with skin-loving African botanicals. Our innovation lies in creating versatile, straightforward products that are easy and fun to use, even on “no makeup” makeup days. Read more about our philosophy here.
How do you pronounce Gloei? What does it mean?
You can pronounce it however you like! Something along the lines of "glo-ee". Gloei means "glow" in Afrikaans, our founder's native tongue, and one of South Africa's eleven national languages.
Where can I buy Gloei products?
Gloei is available online on our website (this one!) and on Faithful To Nature.
If you want to try us out in-person, you can find Gloei in-store at Me&B in Claremont (Palmyra), Stellenbosch, Pretoria (Village Walk) and Johannesburg (44 Stanley and Morningside).
We're also in the Faithful To Nature and BeachCult at the V&A Waterfront, as well as Summer&Salt inside Neighborhoods on Bree St.

Where are your products produced?
Our products are proudly made in South Africa! We work with a reputable cosmetics laboratory situated in Cape Town.
Are your products cruelty-free and vegan?
Yes! Our products contain no animal-derived ingredients. We never test on animals. We are endorsed by Beauty Without Cruelty.
Do you have samples?
As a small company we’re not able to offer samples at this time! If you have a question about a product, or would like advice on which shade to select for your skin tone, please send a note to gloei@gloei.beauty.
I'm not sure which Gloei product is right for me.
Send a selfie to gloei@gloei.beauty and tell us what kind of product you're looking for! We'll advise you on which product and shade will suit you best. You can also check out our Instagram page where we feature our products on many skin types and tones.
Orders & shipping
What does the 'ship with less packaging' option mean?
We offer a 'ship with less packaging' option at checkout. If you select this option we will package your order with only minimal protective packaging, which means it's more eco friendly as there's less waste for you to throw away.
Our 'standard' shipping option comes packaged in a branded box or bubble mailer, along with a Gloei card & sticker.
What is your return policy?
Due to the hygienic nature of our products, we generally aren't able to accept returns. However, if you aren’t satisfied with a product for any reason, please email us at gloei@gloei.beauty and we'll do our best to make it right! See our full return policy here.
What payment forms do you accept?
We accept credit cards, debit cards, Instant EFTs, SnapScan and Zapper through PayFast which is integrated into our site.
Where do you ship your products?
At this time, we're only able to ship to customers within South Africa. However, we hope to offer Gloei products internationally in the future and will keep our community updated!
How much does shipping cost?
Our nationwide flat shipping rate is R80. All orders over R600 ship free!
How long will my order take to ship?
We only ship on week days. There is a 1-2 business day processing window for all orders. Once processed, your order will ship with standard shipping (1-5 business days). Cape Town orders are usually delivered next-day.
Do you offer expedited shipping?
We generally only offer standard shipping. If you need your product urgently, please email gloei@gloei.beauty before you place your order and we can chat through your options!
How can I check the status of my order?
We send a confirmation email with tracking information when your order ships, so you can follow the delivery right to your doorstep! Please keep in mind tracking can take 24 hours to update. If you have any questions about the status of your order, please reach out to us at gloei@gloei.beauty.
I want to cancel or edit my order.
Due to the processing time of orders, we cannot guarantee an order can be edited once placed. Email gloei@gloei.beauty and we’ll do our best!
There was an issue with my delivery. What should I do?

My order was damaged. What should I do?
Oh no! Some factors like shipping and handling are outside of our control and issues like this can happen. Please reach out to gloei@gloei.beauty with a photo of the broken/damaged item and your shipping address and we can process a replacement order for you.
